Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 40 wontons
  • 12 ounce Chinese egg noodles
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger (peeled)
  • 4 dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoon dried shrimp ((optional))
  • 1/2 cup green onions (stems removed)
  • 2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup char siu (Chinese BBQ Pork) (sliced (optional))
  • 2 tablespoon diced green onions ((for garnish))
  • 1-2 cups fried wonton strips ((for serving))

Instruction

  • Place the ginger, green onions, dried shiitakes, dried shrimp and soy sauce in a large pot with the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes. Taste the broth and add additional salt to taste. If you used unsalted or homemade broth, you may need to add additional salt. 
  • While the broth is simmering, cook the wontons and noodles according to the instructions on the package(s) and set aside. 
  • Strain the broth to remove all the aromatics and place back on the stove to keep warm.
  • Place some noodles, wontons and char siu (optional) in a bowl and ladle the broth over the top.
  • Garnish with green onions and fried wonton strips and serve.
