Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 1/2 small yellow onion (minced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3/4 cup bourbon whiskey (I used Jack Daniels)
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • Dash of hot pepper sauce (Tobasco recommended)

Instruction

  • Over medium heat in heavy bottom sauce pan, cook onion and garlic in whiskey until tender and translucent, about 10 minutes. Mix in remaining ingredients and stir.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 1 hour.
  • This recipe can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled, if desired, and canned in a water bath for future use.
