Ingredients
The following ingredients have 8 Servings
- 1/2 small yellow onion (minced)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 3/4 cup bourbon whiskey (I used Jack Daniels)
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- Dash of hot pepper sauce (Tobasco recommended)
Instruction
- Over medium heat in heavy bottom sauce pan, cook onion and garlic in whiskey until tender and translucent, about 10 minutes. Mix in remaining ingredients and stir.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 1 hour.
- This recipe can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled, if desired, and canned in a water bath for future use.
