  • 1 lemon size tamarind
  • 1 cup hot water (for soaking the tamarind)
  • 2 tomato
  • 1 tsp whole black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp toor dal (/split pigeon pea)
  • 1 tsp chana dal (/split chickpea)
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp ghee (/ clarified butter)
  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  • 8 curry Leaves
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves (/cilantro)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or as required)
