Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups sweet onion (diced)
  • 1/2 cup water (divided)
  • 56 oz. can Hunt's Whole Peeled Tomatoes (2-28 oz cans, drained and seeds removed, cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1 jalapeno (diced (remove seeds to reduce the heat))
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instruction

  • heat a large saucepan over medium low heat
  • melt butter in saucepan and add onions
  • stir onions occasionally for roughly 3 to 5 minutes
  • add in 1/4 cup of water and allow to cook another 3 to 5 minutes, until water is gone and onions thicken
  • add in remaining water and repeat the process cooking another 3 to 5 minutes
  • stir in the tomatoes, jalapeno, sugar, salt and pepper
  • stir often until liquid is cooked off and tomatoes have thickened into a jam texture
  • remove from heat and store in a jar with an airtight lid
