Ingredients
The following ingredients have 8 Servings
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 cups sweet onion (diced)
- 1/2 cup water (divided)
- 56 oz. can Hunt's Whole Peeled Tomatoes (2-28 oz cans, drained and seeds removed, cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
- 1 jalapeno (diced (remove seeds to reduce the heat))
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instruction
- heat a large saucepan over medium low heat
- melt butter in saucepan and add onions
- stir onions occasionally for roughly 3 to 5 minutes
- add in 1/4 cup of water and allow to cook another 3 to 5 minutes, until water is gone and onions thicken
- add in remaining water and repeat the process cooking another 3 to 5 minutes
- stir in the tomatoes, jalapeno, sugar, salt and pepper
- stir often until liquid is cooked off and tomatoes have thickened into a jam texture
- remove from heat and store in a jar with an airtight lid
