Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 loaf Italian bread (or other crusty bread)
- 4 TBS butter
- 3-4 tsp minced garlic (I like the pre-chopped kind)
- 1/2 tsp oregano (dried)
- 1/2 tsp basil leaves (dried)
- 1/2 tsp thyme (dried)
- dash of salt and pepper
Instruction
- 1. Preheat broiler to high. Slice bread into slices and arrange on a lined baking sheet.
- 2. Cut butter into 1 TBS wedges and put into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at increments of 15 seconds, for about 45 seconds. You want the butter extra soft, but not melted (it's okay if some melts a little but think pudding consistency). Add the garlic and seasonings to bowl with butter and use a fork to mash/mix well.
- 3. Using a pastry brush or a knife, spread a generous amount of herb butter onto the top of each slice of bread. Don't be stingy with the butter!
- 4. Place in broiler and cook until lightly browned on the edges, about 3-4 minutes. Watch closely as it can burn very quickly under the broiler.
- 5. Remove and serve!
