Ingredients
The following ingredients have 5 Servings
- 1/4 cups Warm Water, about 110 degrees
- 1 1/8 teaspoon Instant Yeast
- 2/3 cup Water, at room temp
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 cups Bread Flour
- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
- 3 tablespoons Taco Seasoning, more if desired
- 1/4 cup Taco Sauce
- 2 1/2 - 3 cups Shredded Cheese (we like a mix of Cheddar, Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella),
- 2 cups Baby Spinach, rinsed and dried
- 1/2 cup chopped Bell Pepper, desired color (or mix of colors)
- 2 tablespoons chopped Green Onion
- 1/2 cup diced Tomatoes
- 1 Avocado, cut into cubes
- Pickled Jalapeños
- Hot Sauce, for serving
- Sour Cream, for serving
Instruction
- Measure warm water into a medium sized bowl or measuring cup (with at least a 1 cup capacity).
- Sprinkle the yeast over water and let stand 5 minutes. Add the room temperature water and oil and stir to combine.
- Place the flour, and salt in the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle. Briefly combine the dry ingredients at low speed.
- Slowly add the liquids and continue to mix on low until a cohesive mass forms. Stop the mixer and replace the paddle with the dough hook.
- Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 3-5 minutes. Form dough into a ball and put in a deep oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap.
- Let rise for 1 1/2 – 2 hours, or until dough is doubled in bulk. Press the dough to deflate.
- Prepare the ground beef mixture by cooking cooking the beef, chopping it up into bite sized crumbles.
- Using a large spoon, carefully remove and discard excess grease by transferring it into a can or old jar (do not put it down the drain, let the oil cool and discard it in the trash later).
- After cooking the beef and draining the oil, mix in the taco seasoning until well combined. Set aside until ready.
- Prepare all veggies, chopping and washing those needed.
- Place a pizza stone on the upper middle rack of your oven.
- Preheat oven to 500-550 degrees F for at least 45 minutes before you intend to bake the pizza, this helps the stone get nice and hot.
- On a flour dusted surface, roll the dough out into a large round.
- If you have a pizza peel, dust that with corn meal, carefully transfer the rolled out dough to it and assemble the pizza on that so you can transfer it to the pizza stone.
- If not, use parchment paper instead and place the parchment paper with the pizza on it on top of the pizza stone.
- Top the pizza dough, first with taco sauce, spreading it across the pizza and leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
- Then, sprinkle with cheese and cheese and desired amount of meat, spinach and bell peppers.
- Cook pizza in prepared oven for 7-17 minutes, rotating halfway through, until spinach has shrunk and edges of dough are becoming golden brown.
- Carefully remove pizza from the oven, and top with remaining veggies so they are fresh.
- Serve pizza with sour cream and hot sauce on the side.
