Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour  (, spooned and leveled )
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (, optional)
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup butter (, melted)
  • 3 cups strawberries (, hulled and sliced in half (or quartered if strawberries are very large))
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • vanilla ice cream (, for serving, optional)
  • whipped cream (, for serving, optional)
  • strawberry sauce (, for serving, optional)

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch square baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • Make the batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cornstarch, baking powder, cinnamon (if using), and salt. Then slowly whisk in the milk and melted butter until combined. Pour mixture into the baking dish.
  • Make the strawberry mixture. In another medium bowl, toss the strawberries with both sugars, lemon juice, and vanilla. Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly over the top of the batter. DO NOT STIR.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and set, and filling is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired, and enjoy!
