Ingredients

The following ingredients have 14 Servings
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour ((337g))
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1½ sticks butter ((softened) (¾ cup/170g))
  • ½ cup sugar ((110g))
  • 1 large egg

Instruction

  • Combine all-purpose flour and ground cardamom in a medium sized bowl.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add egg and beat until combined.
  • Beat in as much of the flour mixture as possible. Add the rest and knead until dough comes together.
  • Divide dough in half. Wrap each portion in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out dough on a pastry mat or lightly floured surface to 3/16th inch thick.
  • Cut into desired shape using 2½ inch cookie cutters. Transfer to a cookie sheet. Repeat until all dough is used up.
  • Bake cookies in a 350°F (180°C) oven for 12 to 14 minutes or until bottoms are very lightly browned.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • When cookies are completely cooled, decorate as desired.
