- 10 1/2 oz granulated sugar ((1 1/2 cups))
- 10 1/2 oz cake flour ((3 cups), sifted (measured after sifting))
- 1 tbsp baking powder ((1 tbsp and 1 tsp))
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 tsp cherry extract ((or more to taste))
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 oz unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- deep pink gel food coloring ((I used Americolor Soft Pink))
- 12 egg whites
- 18 2/3 oz granulated sugar ((2 2/3 cups))
- 5 oz unsalted butter ((1 lb), soft but still cool)
- 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla paste ((or 2 tbsp vanilla extract))
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4.75 oz shelled pistachios ((1 cup))
- Green and yellow food coloring ((I used Americolor Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow))
- deep pink gel food coloring ((I used Americolor Soft Pink))
