The following ingredients have 16 Servings
  • 6 oz maraschino cherries ((1 cup))
  • 10 1/2 oz granulated sugar ((1 1/2 cups))
  • 10 1/2 oz cake flour ((3 cups), sifted (measured after sifting))
  • 1 tbsp baking powder ((1 tbsp and 1 tsp))
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp cherry extract ((or more to taste))
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 oz unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • deep pink gel food coloring ((I used Americolor Soft Pink))
  • 12 egg whites
  • 18 2/3 oz granulated sugar ((2 2/3 cups))
  • 5 oz unsalted butter ((1 lb), soft but still cool)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla paste ((or 2 tbsp vanilla extract))
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4.75 oz shelled pistachios ((1 cup))
  • Green and yellow food coloring ((I used Americolor Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow))
  • deep pink gel food coloring ((I used Americolor Soft Pink))
