Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 4 large Fresh apple(s) honeycrisp, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp(s) Unpacked light brown sugar (15 ml)
  • 1 tsp(s) Fresh lemon juice (5 ml)
  • 1.5 tsp(s) Ground cinnamon (7 ml) divided
  • 1 pinch Ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Ground allspice
  • 5 large egg(s) Egg(s)
  • 1 cup(s) 1% low-fat milk (250 ml)
  • 1 tsp(s) Vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • 0.25 tsp(s) Table salt (1 ml)
  • 4 spray(s) Cooking spray
  • 9 slice(s) Cinnamon raisin swirl bread halved diagonally

Instruction

  • Combine apples, sugar, lemon juice, 2 ml (1/2 tsp) cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice in a glass bowl; cover and microwave until apples soften, about 4 minutes on high.
  • Meanwhile, in a medium, shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, remaining 5 ml (1 tsp)cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt.
  • Coat inside of a 6-L (6-quart) slow cooker with cooking spray. Dunk 10 bread halves in egg mixture and arrange in an overlapping circle on bottom of slow cooker; pour cooked apples over top.
  • Dip remaining 8 bread halves in egg mixture and arrange in a wreath shape around edge of slow cooker, leaving some apples showing in center. Pour remaining egg mixture evenly over top. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours.
