Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, (divided)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large white onion, (finely chopped)
  • 6 cloves garlic, (minced)
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 16 ounces diced tomatoes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 2/3 cup Merlot wine*
  • 2 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper

Instruction

  • Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the ground beef to a large saucepan and brown the meat over medium heat, stirring regularly.
  • Once the meat is browned, drained the fat and add in the remaining olive oil and the onions and cook for about 5 minutes or until the onions become translucent. 
  • Add in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring regularly to ensure that the garlic does not burn. 
  • Add in the remaining ingredients and stir to combine, simmer over medium-low heat for 30 to 40 minutes until sauce reaches desired thickness. 
  • Serve over pasta, with bread, or whatever else you feel like.
