Ingredients
The following ingredients have 2 Servings
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons salted butter ((½ stick or ¼ cup), cold and cut into small pieces)
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 large egg yolk
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped strawberries
- ½ cup powdered sugar (, sifted)
- 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
Instruction
- Heat oven to 425° F (220° C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone liner.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture looks like wet sand.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk and the egg yolk.
- Pour into the flour mixture and stir until combined.
- Gently fold in the white chocolate chips and the chopped strawberries.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead very lightly and form a 5x5-inch circle that is 1-inch thick.Pro Tip: Add a little more flour to the dough if the dough becomes too sticky to handle.
- Cut the dough into 4 wedges and place them on the baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the scones cool on a baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer onto a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes.
- Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth. Spoon over each scone.
