Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 lb bag dried split peas
  • 2 cups chopped ham
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 medium onion, (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup sliced celery
  • 2 cups chopped potatoes, (I use russets and keep the skins on)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instruction

  • Place peas in the bottom of the slow cooker. 
  • Next, add the ham, carrots, onion, celery, and potatoes. Add salt, pepper, and thyme. Add water and broth. 
  •  Allow soup to cook on low 8 hours.  Gently stir the soup till all ingredients are evenly mixed. Season with additional salt and pepper, if necessary.
