Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 pound ground turkey (or chicken)
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion (finely minced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat panko breadcrumbs (lightly pulsed in a food processor)
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 24 ounces marinara (jar, no sugar added)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese (fat-free, shredded)

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to high broil and spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray.
  • Combine all ingredients, except marinara, chicken broth, and parmesan in a large bowl and mix well. Form into 1 inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Broil for about 5 minutes until lightly browned (meatballs will not be fully cooked).
  • Place the browned meatball the slow cooker and add the marinara and broth. Cook on low for 4 hours. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.
