Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1¼ lbs very lean ground beef
- 1 cup finely diced sweet yellow onion
- 2 tsp fresh minced garlic
- 15.5 ounce can sloppy joe sauce
- 3 cups shredded cheddar jack cheese ((divided 2 cups and 1 cup))
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons bisquick mix ((or generic version))
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp cracked black pepper
- ⅔ cup whole milk
- 1 large egg (beaten)
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 375*. Lightly spray a 9 inch deep dish pie pan with nonstick spray. Set it aside.
- Using a 4 - 5 quart saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion and fresh minced garlic, for 4 - 5 minutes stirring often, until the ground beef is no longer pink. Remove from the heat.
- Add the sloppy joe sauce and stir to completely combine.
- Pour the sloppy joe mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the 2 cups of shredded cheese on top of the sloppy joe mixture.
- Add the bisquick mix, onion powder, kosher salt and cracked black pepper to a medium size mixing bowl, whisk to combine.
- Stir in the whole milk, beaten egg and 1 ½ cups of the shredded cheese.
- Evenly spread the bisquick mixture over the shredded cheese layer. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden. Serve while hot.
