Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil ((extra virgin))
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb mushrooms ((white button mushrooms or cremini mushrooms - cleaned and sliced, quartered, or halved depending on size))
  • 1 large sweet onion ((Walla Walla and Vidalia sweet onions are the best for flavor))
  • 1 tsp garlic ((minced))
  • each, salt & pepper ((to taste))
  • 1 Tbsp butter ((optional))

Instruction

  • Bring a large skillet or non-stick frying pan to medium-high heat with the olive oil. Once the oil begins to shimmer stir in the Worcestershire sauce and add the mushrooms.
  • Saute the mushrooms for about 5 minutes on their own, until they start to turn golden brown, stirring every minute and a half or so. Add the sliced sweet onions and continue to saute, stirring occasionally, until caramelized. This should take about 10 minutes.
  • Once the mushrooms and onions are browned and almost ready to serve, reduce the heat to low, stir in the garlic plus optional butter, and season with salt and pepper. Saute for 30 seconds to a minute more then remove from heat and serve immediately.
