Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, (diced)
- 4 cloves garlic, (minced)
- 4 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 32 ounces chicken broth
- 20 ounces tortellini, (frozen or fresh)
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, (optional)
Instruction
- In a large soup pot or Dutch oven, cook sausage and onions over medium high heat until sausage is fully cooked through and onions are tender.
- Add garlic to pan and cook for 2 additional minutes. Drain grease and return to pan.
- Sprinkle flour over sausage and onions. Stir to coat thoroughly.
- Add basil, oregano, paprika, pepper, salt and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- Pour heavy cream and chicken broth into sausage mixture. Stir well. Continue cooking until soup starts to boil.
- Reduce heat and add tortellini to pan. Stir and let simmer for 10 minutes or until tortellini is fully cooked.
- Top with parmesan cheese and serve hot. Enjoy!
