Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 2 tbs butter (optional – 2 tbs vegetable oil if keeping vegan)
- ½ onion chopped small
- 3 cloves of garlic – minced
- 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce (it is the bigger sized can of sauce)
- 1 6 oz can of tomato paste
- 1 15 oz San Marzano Tomatoes
- 1 heavy pinch of dried chipotle peppper
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tbs heavy cream (optional – 3 tbs almond milk if keeping vegan)
Instruction
- In a sauce pot, over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until soft – 2-3 minutes. Add the garlic. Cook for 2 minutes more.
- Add the tomato sauce, paste and san marzano tomatoes. Use a potato masher and smash the san marzano tomatoes to release the juices.
- Add the chipotle pepper, sugar, salt and pepper.
- Heat over medium heat until the sauce comes to a simmer. Allow to simmer as long as you desire. See notes.
- 5 minutes before serving, add the cream, taste and add more salt and pepper as desired.
