- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 250 ml lukewarm water (1 cup)
- 500 g white cabbage (1 lb)
- a smallish bunch of dill
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt and pepper
- 4 tablespoons oil for frying
