The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper (yellow or green; chopped)
  • 2 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 15 oz can tomatoes (diced)
  • 15 oz black beans ((1 can undrained))
  • 15 oz kidney beans ((1 can undrained))
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup split peas, yellow ((there is no need to soak ahead of time))
  • 1/4 cup roasted split peas
  • 2 tsp salt ((or to taste))
  • 2 tsp chili powder ((or to taste))
  • 2 tsp cumin ((or to taste))
  • garnish (roasted split yellow peas*, chopped cilantro, grated cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, tortilla chips)
  • 1 cup split peas, yellow
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
