- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 Tbsp red food coloring, liquid
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 8 oz cream cheese (brick style), softened to room temperature
- 2 - 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- salt, to taste
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
