Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 2 big tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1 small amla sized tamarind
  • 3-4 red chilies
  • salt
  • 1 tablespoon gingely oil
  • For tempering
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

Instruction

  • Heat 1 tablespoon gingely oil in a kadai. Add red chilies, cut onions, tamarind and saute well.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and saute well till the tomatoes turn mushy. Cool the fried ingredients thoroughly.
  • Take all the ingredients in a mixer jar. Add grated coconut. Add salt to taste and grind to a smooth chutney.
  • Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a small kadai. Add 1 teaspoon mustard and let it splutter. Add the tempering along with oil to the prepared chutney. Mix well and serve red chutney with idli or dosa.
