Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 75 g (⅓ cup) unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 75 g (⅓ cup) sugar
  • 75 g (½ cup + 2 tbsp) ground almonds
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 large egg
  • couple drops almond extract ( or zest of 1 lemon)
  • 250 g (2 cups) strong bread flour
  • 150 g (⅔ cup) cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 120 ml (½ cup) skimmed milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk beaten with 1tsp water to glaze
  • 100 g (scant 1 cup) flaked almonds
  • 150 g (1 ½ cups) icing sugar (sifted)
  • 3 tbsp milk or water (as needed)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
