Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • one 3 lb pork shoulder or pork butt roast strings removed
  • 12 ounces root beer
  • one 18 ounce bottle barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 4 cups bagged coleslaw mix
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard (more to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar or apple cider vinegar (more to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon white sugar (more to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 hamburger or kaiser buns (split in half)

Instruction

  • Place the pork roast in a slow cooker. Pour the root beer over top and cook, covered, on low until meat is tender, around 8-10 hours.
  • Remove the roast and cool slightly.
  • Discard the roast cooking juices.
  • Shred the pork with two forks and then return to the slow cooker.
  • Stir in your favorite barbecue sauce.
  • Cover and heat again until heated through, about 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the coleslaw by mixing together the ingredients.
  • Lightly toast the buns, then place on a plate.
  • Take a scoop of the hot pulled pork and place on each bun bottom, top with coleslaw, then place the top of the bun on top.
