Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 8 frozen white bread rolls (I used Rhodes)
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 cups water
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • coarse sea salt

Instruction

  • Defrost and proof roll dough according to packaged directions. This should take 3-4 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add baking soda.
  • While water is coming to a boil, remove hot dogs from packaging and blot dry with paper towels. Having dry hot dogs will help the dough stay in place, so be sure to not skip this step. Take 1 roll dough ball and roll on the counter into a rope. Wrap dough around your hot dog, tucking or pinching the ends onto itself to hold dough in place. Continue this process with remaining hot dogs.
  • Boil hot dogs 30 seconds each and remove gently with large slotted spoon. Place onto prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg and top with coarse sea salt.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes or until dough is darker golden brown. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, queso dip, anything your little heart desires.
