Ingredients
The following ingredients have 12 Servings
- 1 whole chicken
- 250g yellow split peas
- 2 brown onions chopped large
- 1 celery stalk chopped
- 4 carrots chopped
- 1 tbs salt
- 1L water
Instruction
- Add split peas and chicken to a large pot. Add enough water to cover the chicken and bring to the boil and allowing to boil slowly for 1.5 hours.
- Remove the chicken and any bones. Set aside and allow to cool.
- Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot, reduce the heat to a simmer and cover.
- Once chicken is cool, remove meat from the bones, chop and return chicken to pot with other ingredients.
- Simmer for another 6-8 hours, then serve.
