Ingredients

The following ingredients have 36 Servings
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • red and green food coloring

Instruction

  • Cream butter and sugar with a handheld or electric mixer.
  • Mix in flour, salt, and vanilla.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Drop teaspoonsful of the cookie dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Make an indent in each cookie with your thumb (dip your thumb in flour before pressing into the cookie so that it doesn't stick).
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool for 2 minutes and then remove the cookies to a wire rack to finish cooling.
