Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1/2 c butter (softened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 c all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • filling
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1.5 c pecans (chopped)
  • 1 c chocolate chips

Instruction

  • Spray 8x8 pan with non stick spray or line with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • With a mixer cream butter until fluffy, then add egg and lemon juice and mix. Add flour and mix until combined.
  • Press inside greased pan as the bottom layer. Poke top with fork a few times.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until outer edges are light brown.
  • In a saucepan melt butter and honey, then add brown sugar and bring to a boil. Stir until it is a dark brown, about 5 min.
  • Remove from heat, add cream and stir. Add pecans and pour over shortbread layer. Bake again for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove, sprinkle on chocolate chips to melt. Use back of spoon to smooth when melted.
  • Can add whole chips on top just before leaving it to cool. Once cold slice into bars.
