Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • About a 1/2 lb French baguette (12 1/2-inch slices)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pecan pie topping:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups pecan halves (somewhat crushed)

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 casserole dish.
  • Slice bread and lay it over the bottom of the casserole dish (you may have to overlap the bread slices slightly).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon, until smooth.
  • Pour egg mixture slowly all over the bread, making sure there are no dry spots on the bread. Press on bread slices. Set aside.
  • In a small sauce pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in brown sugar and corn syrup.
  • Once the mixture is heated through and sugar is melting, stir in pecans and cinnamon. Cook for a few minutes and take off heat.
  • Scoop small spoonfuls of pecan pie mixture all over the bread, making sure it's covering the bread evenly.
  • Bake French toast casserole for 40-43 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
