Ingredients

The following ingredients have 9 Servings
  • 4 cups thinly sliced pears (two large)
  • 2 cups thinly sliced apples (two small)
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg,
  • 1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • For the Streusel Topping:
  • 3/4 cup pecan pieces, toasted
  • 1/3 cup cooked and peeled chestnuts, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil (or butter)
  • juice from 2 mandarins (about 6 Tablespoons)
  • pinch of salt

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Thinly slice the fruit and mix together with maple syrup, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Lightly grease a casserole dish (I used olive oil, but you could probably skip this), and pour the mixed filling into the dish.
  • Bake covered on 350ºF for 30 minutes.
  • For the Streusel Topping:
  • Combine all of the ingredients for the topping in a large bowl and mix well. If using cool coconut oil or butter, you should melt it first.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the crumble from the oven and spread the topping over it. Return to oven and bake 20 minutes more.
