Ingredients

The following ingredients have 12 Servings
  • 4 cups fresh (peeled)
  • 2 cups sugar (divided use)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
  • 1 1/2 cups UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • cinnamon (as desired)

Instruction

  • Peel and slice peaches.
  • Combine peaches with one cup sugar and the water and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Set aside.
  • Melt butter in a 9x13” glass baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir to combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and remaining 1 cup sugar.
  • Add milk very slowly so lumps don’t form.
  • Continue to stir in milk a few tablespoons at a time until thoroughly combined and mixed.
  • Evenly pour batter over melted butter in baking dish.
  • Do not stir.
  • Evenly spoon peaches and syrup over top of the batter in the dish.
  • Do not stir.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon, as desired.
  • Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until set.
