Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 yellow onions (thinly sliced – I use a mandolin to get ultra thin slices)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instruction

  • Combine the ground beef, salt and pepper.
  • Form into four quarter-pound patties.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle to medium heat.
  • Place the burger patties on the grill for 3-4 minutes, smash the burgers down with a spatula and top with a handful of onions.
  • Smash the onions into the patties, cook for another 2-3 minutes, flip and cook 4-6 minutes.
  • Place a slice of cheese on each burger patty and allow to melt for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the hamburger buns to the griddle and toast lightly.
  • Place each onion fried burger on a bun and serve.
