Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 6 pears (cut into 1-inch chunks (do not peel))
  • 1 ½ cups sugar (divided)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 8 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon (divided)
  • Powder sugar for dusting

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine the pears, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  • Place the butter in a 9x13 baking dish and place in oven to melt.
  • Mix remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, cardamom, ½ tsp. cinnamon, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir.
  • Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in pear syrup. Sprinkle the top with remaining cinnamon.
  • Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. The batter will rise to the top during baking and will look like a cake/cobbler.
  • Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
  • To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with vanilla ice cream or gelato!
