Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 cup butter (cold)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup finely grated cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh herbs (or 1 tsp. dried herbs)

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Mix together flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
  • Cut butter into slices and then cut in with pastry blender until mixture becomes crumbly.
  • Stir in the grated cheese and herbs.
  • Stir in buttermilk until a soft dough forms (start with 1/4-1/3 cup).
  • Turn dough onto floured surface and need 4-5 times.
  • Flatten dough to about 1/2" (use a rolling pin if you have one).
  • Cut into biscuits (I used a 1-3/4" biscuit cutter and got 21 biscuits).
  • Place on greased or lined baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes.
