Ingredients
The following ingredients have 12 Servings
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 60g butter chilled
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 150ml milk
- 1/2 cup milk extra to glaze
Instruction
- Sprinkle a baking tray with a little flour.
- Sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl.
- Cut butter into 5 mm cubes and add to flour.
- Gently stir butter through flour with a wooden spoon until each piece of butter is separated.
- Stir in sugar.
- Add milk to flour mixture and gently combine with a rounded knife with a cutting motion until a dough forms.
- Gently pat dough into a ball.
- Turn dough ball out onto a lightly floured surface and pat out until 2.5 cm thick.
- Cut out rounds with a 5cm cookie cutter. Gather remaining dough and pat out/cut until you have 12 rounds.
- Place rounds on prepared tray close together, and brush tops with a little milk.
- Bake at 220C for 15 minutes or until golden and well risen.
- Cool slightly before serving with butter, cream and jam.
