Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic (, peeled and minced)
  • 4 ounces lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

Instruction

  • In a 10-inch skillet over medium heat, heat oil 30 seconds. Add onions and garlic and cook until onions become very soft, about 3 minutes.
  • Add ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally and breaking up any large lumps, until meat is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce thickens, about 30 minutes.
  • Taste, and add additional salt if necessary. Pour into a jar or serve with pasta.
