  • 1½-2 pound flat iron steak
  • ¼ cup red wine (I used a cabernet sauvignon)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 Tbsp prepared pesto (homemade or storebought)
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
