The following ingredients have 3 Servings
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 loaf French bread or 1 package rolls (like King's Hawaiian)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 heaping tablespoons sweet or dill pickle relish
- 2 teaspoons Creole, Dijon or yellow mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup beef stock (low sodium recommended)
- Chopped onion, chopped tomato and shredded lettuce, or optional toppings for garnish
Instruction
- Cook ground beef in a medium size skillet over medium heat, until cooked through, breaking up to a fine crumble.
- Meanwhile, split the French bread in half lengthwise and brush cut side of bread with the melted butter; grill or toast in a skillet.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the ketchup, sweet pickle, mustard and pepper. Add the onion soup mix to the ketchup mixture and stir together well.
- Stir the beef stock and the ketchup mixture into the beef; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until heated through well.
- Spread the meat mixture over the bottom half of the toasted French bread and add toppings as desired of chopped onion, tomato and shredded lettuce, or other toppings as desired.
- Top with other half of the toasted French bread and cut into serving slices. Serves 4, or 2 really hungry adults.
