Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • ½ lb 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 lasagna noodles
  • 8 oz mozzarella, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley, optional

Instruction

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium high heat until glistening
  • Add in the italian sausage, ground beef and onions and cook until meat is browned and onions are softened, about 8 minutes
  • Add in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 more minute
  • Add tomato paste, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and fennel and simmer on low for 20 minutes
  • Meanwhile, break up the lasagna noodles into 2-3 inch pieces and cook according to package directions and drain.Add the cooked lasagna noodles to the pot and stir to combine
  • Stir in the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses along with fresh parsley
  • Serve topped with extra parmesan and parsley
