Ingredients
The following ingredients have 8 Servings
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- ½ lb 80/20 ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 8 lasagna noodles
- 8 oz mozzarella, shredded
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese
- fresh parsley, optional
Instruction
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium high heat until glistening
- Add in the italian sausage, ground beef and onions and cook until meat is browned and onions are softened, about 8 minutes
- Add in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 more minute
- Add tomato paste, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and fennel and simmer on low for 20 minutes
- Meanwhile, break up the lasagna noodles into 2-3 inch pieces and cook according to package directions and drain.Add the cooked lasagna noodles to the pot and stir to combine
- Stir in the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses along with fresh parsley
- Serve topped with extra parmesan and parsley
