Ingredients

The following ingredients have 4 Servings
  • ⅞ cup / 200ml Milk (lukewarm)
  • 1 oz / 20g Fresh yeast
  • 1⅓ cup / 400g Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 15 tablespoon / 200g Butter (room temperature)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tablespoon Honey or sweetener of choice
  • 2 oz / 60g Raisins or dried fruit of choice
  • 3½ oz / 100g Chocolate chips
  • 2 oz / 40g Baking chocolate
  • ½ oz / 10g Nuts of choice

Instruction

  • Take two cups and measure ½ cup / 100ml lukewarm milk into each.
  • Pour the raisins into one of them and the yeast in the other one. In a couple of minutes the yeasty milk starts to be foamy.
  • Put flour, butter eggs, honey and yeasty milk into a medium size mixing bowl.
  • Dough it until it gets even.
  • Pour in chocolate chips, soaked raisins or other dried fruit of choice and mix them well.
  • Pour batter into the Gugelhupf form and leave it in a warm place for about 40 minutes it raise.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C.
  • Put Gugelhupf in for a 45 minutes to bake. Use a toothpick to check if it's baked. If not, put it back to the oven.
  • When it's baked take it out and leave it on a cooling rack to cool down.
  • Melt chocolate and pour it on top of the Gugelhopf.
  • Sprinkle finely chopped nuts on top.
