Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 2 lbs /1kg kangaroo mince
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup kefir (can use Greek yogurt)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- salt and pepper to taste
- worcestershire sauce (for barbecuing)
- sliced cheese
- lettuce and tomato
- 8 hamburger buns
- condiments (ketchup, mustard, pickles)
Instruction
- Using your hands, mix the kangaroo, breadcrumbs, kefir, egg, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper together in a large bowl until evenly combined.
- Prepare a tray lined with baking paper or wax paper to place the kangaroo patties on.
- Using a hamburger patty press, place the hamburger mixture inside and press to form hamburger patties. If making by hand, divide the meat into 8-10 portions and form them into patties (about 1/2"-3/4" thick).
- Place the individual patties on the lined tray, cover with cling wrap and refrigerated for 30 minutes. This helps the burgers to keep shape while they are cooking.
- Bbq the kangaroo burgers on medium heat until they are fully brown and cooked through. It will take about 3-4 minutes per side. Shake a few dashes of worcestershire sauce on top of each kangaroo burger while cooking for a delicious flavor boost. When burgers are cooked, top with a slice of cheese and allow to melt.
- To build your burger, add your favorite sauces on the burger buns, like mayo, ketchup and mustard. Go gourmet with beet relish, onion jam or a mango chutney. Add a kangaroo burger patty on the base of the bun and layer with some of your favorite toppings. Common ingredients are lettuce, sliced tomato, grilled onion, pickles and sliced beets. Cover with the top of the burger bun and enjoy.
