  • 8 saltine crackers, (crushed (about 1/2 cup) (see notes))
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) buttermilk ((see notes))
  • ¼ cup green onion, (sliced + more for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds ((optional))
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, (minced)
  • 3 teaspoons freshly grated ginger ((or 1 teaspoon of ground ginger))
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) canola or vegetable oil
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons (54 g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
