Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 8 - hot dogs
  • - hot dog buns
  • 8 slice(s) American cheese
  • 1 teaspoon(s) butter
  • - fresh avocado, sliced for garnish, optional
  • ONION AND TOMATO RELISH
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 1/2 large jalapeno, chopped with seeds
  • 1 large vine ripe tomato, quartered
  • 2 clove(s) garlic (large), chopped
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup(s) ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon(s) honey
  • 1 teaspoon(s) brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon(s) olive oil

Instruction

  • Heat a large frying pan with a tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Add the onions, garlic, and jalapeno. Sauté until the onions are slightly golden.
  • Add the tomato and continue to sauté until the tomato is soft.
  • In a small bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, vinegar, honey, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, ground cumin and brown sugar.
  • Stir together and add to the pan.
  • Simmer on low while the hot dogs finish cooking (5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally).
  • Heat another large frying pan with a teaspoon of butter.
  • Add the hot dogs and cook until a beautiful golden color.
  • Heat the hot dog buns.
  • Place the sliced American cheese on the bun.
  • Top with the hot dog.
  • Then add the onion/tomato relish.
