Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 1 cup Oats
- 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 cup All Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 3/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Cold Butter (Cut into pieces)
- 1 Egg
- 1 1/3 cup Buttermilk (or 1 1/3cupmilk + 1tbsp lemon juice)
- 1/4 cup dough enhancer
Instruction
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray cooking spray on a baking sheet.
- Mix together: oats, flours, honey, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Cut in butter using 2 knives or with a pastry cutter.
- Beat egg in with the milk. Slowly add to the dry mixture, mixing while adding. Once the dough is well mixed, turn it out onto a counter top with flour. Sprinkle more flour on top.
- Knead dough lightly, until you've managed to shape it into a nice circle. {About 7" in diameter} The dough is sticky, so you don't want to knead it a ton or you'll have to keep adding flour, which will dry out the bread. This whole process of kneading and shaping shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.
- Transfer bread to the cookie sheet. Cut 2 quick lines in the top of the bread in an X shape. Brush bread with a little milk and sprinkle with additional oats.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. ENJOY!
