Ingredients

The following ingredients have 10 Servings
  • 1 lb ground beef or pork, or mix of both,
  • 1 medium Green Pepper chopped
  • 1/3 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic pressed or minced
  • 28 ounce Crushed tomatoes canned
  • 15 ounce tomato sauce
  • 2 12 oz kidney beans, dark or light rinsed and drained
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder

Instruction

  • Brown beef/pork with onion, garlic, and green pepper. Add salt and pepper while meat is browning. Add remaining ingredients, plus about 8 oz of water or more, to make it thinner. (I also sometimes add half a cup of dry red wine, but it is not necessary). Bring to boil, reduce heat and cover. Check seasonings and adjust to your liking. Simmer at least 20 minutes, longer is better.
