Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- Water
- 6 black tea bags
- 1 ½ cups milk (Liquid Coffee Creamer or Half & Half)
- ⅓ cup Rodelle Vanilla Sugar
- 2 small cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise
- ½ whole nutmeg (grated)
- 6 pods cardamon (crushed)
- ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
Instruction
- Assemble spices, crush cardamon pods and break cinnamon sticks in half.
- Fill pot with water, add all the spices to pot and bring to a boil. Boil at least five minutes. Ten minutes for a stronger spice flavor. I boiled my pot of spices for about seven minutes and it had a very nice spicy flavor. Some chai teas are way too spicy for me but seven minutes gave me a nice mellow spice flavor, not over powering.
- Add tea bags to pot of water and spices. Steep tea 8 - 10 minutes and remove tea bags. Tea gets very bitter if steeped too long.
- While tea steeps warm your dairy of choice in a small pot until bubbles form along the inside edges of the pot. Remove from heat and whisk until foamy.
- Remove tea bags and pour tea/spice mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a warmed tea pot.
- Fill tea cup half way to ¾ full with chai tea and top off with your warmed milk, liquid creamer or half and half.
- Dollop whipped cream on top and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
