Ingredients

The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 2 14.5 ounce cans chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups chopped cabbage
  • 2 large carrots (scraped and chopped)
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • few drops hot sauce or pinch of cayenne (optional)
  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instruction

  • Combine chicken broth, water, cabbage, carrots, celery, butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder and hot sauce in a soup pot on top of the stove.  Bring to a boil and turn to simmer.
  • Brown the hamburger along with the onion in a separate skillet and drain.  Add to vegetables.  Add milk and cook until carrots, celery and cabbage gets tender.  This take about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • In the last few minutes of cooking, add the cheese and let melt into the soup.
