Ingredients

The following ingredients have 24 Servings
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 2 cups golden brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 teaspoons instant espresso powder dissolved in 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 2-4 Tbsp half and half
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water (this is half the normal amount for a simple syrup as I wanted it thicker)
  • Red Food coloring
  • Candy Eyes for decoration
