The following ingredients have 8 Servings
  • 1/2 cup(s) butter
  • 1 cup(s) sugar (for topping)
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup(s) all purpose flour
  • 1 cup(s) oatmeal, uncooked
  • 3/4 teaspoon(s) cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon (for filling)
  • 8 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 3/4 cup(s) sugar (for filling)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon(s) cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
  • - vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instruction

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • For Topping: Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat together the butter and 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl until smooth and creamy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, oats and 3/4 tsp. of cinnamon until thoroughly blended.
  • For Filling: In a separate bowl, combine the sliced apples, 3/4 cup of sugar, cornstarch, 1 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well.
  • Evenly spoon the apple mixture into a 3 quart casserole dish. Spoon topping mixture evenly over apple filling.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm by itself or over vanilla ice cream.
