Ingredients
The following ingredients have 4 Servings
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Butter (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (for garnish)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instruction
- Stir together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves in a large mixing bowl. Stir until combined. (If gifting pour dry ingredients into a 1-quart mason jar.)
- In another mixing bowl, whisk together milk, butter, molasses, eggs, and lemon juice until combined. It may look broken and streaky, that's okay.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until completely incorporated and there are no lumps. Let better rest for 5 minutes.
- Heat waffle iron while waffle batter rests.
- Once the waffle iron is hot, coat the irons with non-stick cooking spray. Pour 3/4 cup of batter onto the iron. Close and cook until the indicator light goes off, about 5 minutes. Once you open the iron your waffle should be crispy on top and fluffy in the middle.
- Transfer waffle to a plate and spread butter on immediately. Repeat with remaining waffle batter.
- Sprinkle waffles with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve warm.
